Tras otra entrevista de trabajo desastrosa, me meto en un bar y pido un buen gin-tonic para ahogar mis penas. Lo que ocurre a continuación es que acabo ahogándome en el hombre fascinante y cautivador que hay sentado a mi lado en la barra. Nuestras indirectas son eléctricas, la química es innegable, y algo parece encajar desde el principio.
Cuando me despierto sola en su lujoso ático con vistas a la bahía de Seattle y me encuentro una nota en la que me desea un buen viaje de vuelta a Chicago, su mensaje me queda claro como el agua: no va a haber una segunda vez.
Al principio, me siento aliviada al no tener que enfrentarme a ese momento incómodo de la mañana siguiente. Pero después, mientras observo pasar los rascacielos de la ciudad de camino al aeropuerto, su abrupta despedida me duele.
Empiezo a deprimirme por lo mal que fue la entrevista, pero al llegar a casa recibo una oferta de empleo inesperada.
Cuando llego el primer día a mi nuevo trabajo, adivina quién viene a saludarme: ni más ni menos que el empresario hotelero multimillonario Asher Kingcaid, mi misterioso extraño. Y me deja bien claro que quiere más que solo una noche.
Pero a mí rendirme a sus encantos no me parece muy buena idea. Cuando te has quemado una vez, lo lógico es mantenerte alejada del fuego.
Sin embargo, Asher parece decidido a arrastrarme hasta las llamas...
