Least of all, a vampire who I strongly suspected might turn out to be the major missing component at the end of the trail. Then I saw something I couldn't forget. It wasn't the bloodiest thing I'd ever seen. It wasn't even close. But it haunted me. I didn't like being haunted.

And I couldn't figure out how to get it out of my head.

Someone was killing teenaged boys in the Pacific Northwest. Despite my misgivings, if I could help catch a killer, I had to at least try.

Author’s note: The ideal listening order of Catching Echoes (Reconstructionist 1) is after the first six books in the Dowser series and the three books in the Oracle series, but it's not actually necessary to listen to the Dowser or the Oracle series before listening to the Reconstructionist series.

Wonderful story, great narration.

This is a great series. The characters are well developed. The story is well written and entertaining. The performance is wonderful, I've read the book and this is exactly how a I imagined.

Enjoyed

I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for book 2. It’s a very PG book but I really like the narration. She made me stay and listen.

Eh….not for me

The book is written as if there is backstory that we already know. That backstory is brought up every chapter but never explained until the very end of the story. Even then, it doesn’t make any sense. It’s like there is an entire story that we haven’t heard that may be told later but for now we have to pretend we know what’s being talked about.

Honestly that happened a lot in this book. Lots of backstories that weren’t really delved into. The author spent more time describing clothing, food, and surroundings than expounding on the story itself.

I got kind of annoyed with the constant belittling of the main character and her never really seeming to stand up for herself. She keeps saying she stood up for herself in her past but keeps getting “put in her place” so to speak.

The story in general didn’t make much sense. Parts of it was interesting but overall I found myself lost most of the time. The way one character was introduced at the beginning turns out to be totally different. I don’t know. I just didn’t care for this book. I won’t be following the series.

The narrator does a really good job. There are times you can hear things in the background but it’s not super distracting. Very brief and few and far between.
