As they say, familiarity breeds contempt. Just as we take breathing for granted, we can take the Holy Spirit for granted simply because we constantly depend on him. Like the cane that soon feels like an extension of the blind man's own body, we too easily begin to think of the Holy Spirit as an extension of ourselves.

Outstanding.
A dear pastor lead a group of us through Calvin’s Institutes many years ago when I was a very young Christian and it was a genuine blessing. Years later I went back through and read them again on my own for my devotional time and was once again reminded of Calvin’s great significance (Christ through him) in Church history. A dear pastor friend recently asked me my favorite one volume systematic theology and unhesitatingly I replied “Calvin’s Institutes” (Robert Reymond following close behind :)). Really loved this biography and hope you will as well. Thank you Dr. Horton.

Amazing Scholarship
There’s a no question books in this series (no exact series but all similar on various theologians) are very technical and knowledge about the subject is somewhat necessary. It’s not light reading. But one learns a great deal about Calvin here and what he actually believed and preached. He’s gotten a lot of unnecessary flak over the years. Horton clarifies a lot of misinformation while providing new enlightenment. Excellent work.
