Excellent story

If you’re interested in history and not the self righteous ramblings of a former SEAL this is the book for you.
This author is not interested in the game associated with service, instead he prioritizes the importance of the legacy that built the reputation of the SEAL teams today. 10/10 would recommend.

Detailed and entertaining telling of real history

This is a well written historical text that covers quite a breadth and depth of military action and the individuals who were involved. The content and style made it a joy to listen to on several long road trips as well as in shorter daily sessions.

Amazing book

I’ve read dozens of military history books, and Ben managed to do something that very few others have done: write an in-depth history book that reads like a novel. I laughed, cried, and learned a ton while listening to this book. If you have any remote interest in military special forces history, just read the book!

Factual, grimdark and fascinating

Careful research have given the author LOTS of details and this could easy become bogged down. The amazing stories about the unique characters easily compensate for that, all these crazy people who contributes parts to the Navy Seal story; I just wanted to hear more. I really hope that there’s material for several in-depth follow up books about many of these. Thanks!

Fast paced + action packed + untold stories = GREAT book!

I was a little intimidated by the length of this book at the outset.

That concern quickly melted away as I eagerly listened to the twists and turns, successes and failures, heroes and villains that gave rise to what we know today as the Navy SEALS.

Pick this up and you won’t put it down!

Tar-aah-waah

Great book! Very good narration but every time I hear one of these books, the narrator mispronounces the name Tarawa.

First heard the author on Jocko’s podcast and his history alone warrants credibility. I highly recommend this book. It is not the same old yarn about hell week. The author has a gift and I am grateful to have gotten it.
