Back in 1974, I had decided to become something I wasn't, and ended up realizing that all that time I had pretended to be someone else, I wasn't being fair to the real person I was deep down. If you have to be cool and tough, and bully others to feel better about yourself, YOU are the bully—and in more ways than one.
I found out through experience that the best revenge is NO revenge. If you have learned from your mistakes, just move on and be happy, and enjoy your life while you have the chance.
But unfortunately, that's a big part of growing up sometimes. The best lessons you learn are more often than not the hardest lessons learned.
And to think that if I hadn't taken the advice of my best friend, Philip, that day, I would have never realized where I was going wrong.
But that's just what true best friends do for each other....
