Jewelry, artifacts, and portraits mysteriously appear, suggesting that Annabel may be the true heir of Highcliffe.

She has only a few months to prove her legitimacy, perhaps with assistance from the handsome but troubled Maltese Captain Dell'Acqua. But does he have Annabel's best interests at heart?

And then, a final, most ominous barrier to both her inheritance and her existence appears: a situation neither she nor anyone else could have expected. Will Annabel regain her life and property - and trust her heart - before it's too late?

Perfect break from mainstream romance

Lately it has been a challenge to find a good, engaging listen that isn't filled with profanity and sex. If you are looking for a story that has a plot, reminiscent of Phyllis Whitney, this is the book for you. It is a very clean cut book... no profanity or sex scenes. It is was overall a good listen for me. I think I would really rate 3.5 stars ... since it was not out of the ball park good and it was a little above mediocre.

This author weaves a tale around jealousy, family problems, 1850's England .... and was a good listen. The twits are predictable, but never the less told in such a way you really don't mind.

The narration was okay. The "foreign" accents from Malta were a little taxing, but otherwise it was not an unbearable performance.

I used a credit for this book. Definitely sale worthy .... save the credit.

Good book but a little predictable

I have just recently discovered Sandra Byrd and I have really liked what I have read this far. I found this storyline a little predictable. but the characters were well done and I found it very fun to listen to.
