Acerca de esta escucha

A stranger enters the inner sanctum of the Ashby family posing as Patrick Ashby, the heir to the family’s sizeable fortune. The stranger, Brat Farrar, has been carefully coached on Patrick’s mannerisms, appearance and every significant detail of Patrick’s early life, up to his 13th year when he disappeared and was thought to have drowned himself. It seems as if Brat is going to pull off this most incredible deception until old secrets emerge that threaten to jeopardise the imposter’s plan and his very life.

I rarely read/listen to a book twice. ❤️❤️

‘Brat Farrar’ was, surprisingly to me, even better the second time around. The writing, the story, the narration enraptured me once again. And that combination of excellence turned ‘characters’ into people and ‘plot’ into real life experiences. The novel is filled with charming, complex, and also conflicted people and a fascinating storyline that keeps you unsure and guessing until the end.

One of the best audible books ever

Loved the story, loved the presentation. This is the first thing I've read by Tey and plan to listen/read the rest. After I finished the book I listened a second time- I've never done that before.

Predictable

The story was good, but I had a feeling I had it figured out within the first few chapters. I did.

1950s English Family Story and Mystery

More than a mystery, a tale of a family, close-knit, yet racked by a deep pain, the loss of a thirteen year old boy, a twin who committed suicide years earlier . . . now just when the other brother, Simon is about to come of age and inherit the family estate, Brat Farrar shows up claiming to be the long lost Patrick, thought to have died years earlier . . . the reactions of each member of the family is described in detail, and they vary greatly . . . with Simon, Patrick's twin, openly hostile . . . and Aunt Bee the first to fall head over heels in love with her nephew . . . although a niggling little voice tells her that Brat isn't actually her long lost nephew at all . . . a wonderful, rich tale, excellent narration, perfect conclusion . . . rarely have I listened to a book that I so enjoyed . . .

Predictable

This is an old fashioned book. I found the plot predictable, but it was an enjoyable story.

Nicely done

An imaginative tale that was less a mystery than an engaging story. Excellent narration. Worth the credit

Very well done.

This is my first book by this author. It won't be the last. The narrator brought the characters to life.

Not truly great, but not bad either

Typical English mystery for the era written. The book description gives the main plot. The characters are completely fleshed out and the story is fairly interesting, but a little drawn out. The plot is outlandish and unbelievable, but the character Brat Farrar is quite likable, and Bea as well. The ending was a little abrupt for the long build up and, in my opinion, was not happy or sad. It was just an ending. The narrator was appropriate. She is very talented. The author writes beautifully.
