Acerca de esta escucha
Your first instincts and gut feelings are usually flat out wrong. Discover why, and learn how to actually think clearly.
A brain fart is a lapse in judgment. We do this every day without realizing it, and it can have severe consequences on our lives. Use this book as a field guide to think better, understand your feelings better, and tame your stupid brain.
Cure your flawed thinking habits and mental blunders.
Brain Fart is a book that will get you to think about how you think. Never before has such a deep look been taken into the roots of illogical and rash decisions - how they form, and how they persist in our lives. We all recognize our big blunders, but it's the subconscious ones that can sink us.
Brain Fart is expertly researched with psychological and scientific studies, and delves into neuroscience and behavioral economics. In a book that has wide ranging implications, Peter Hollins illustrates why we tend to immediately have regret our decisions and proclaim, "What was I thinking?!"
Stop falling into your own mental traps and develop clarity of thought.
Peter Hollins has studied psychology and peak human performance for over a dozen years and is a best-selling author. He has worked with dozens of individuals to unlock their potential and path towards success. His writing draws on his academic, coaching, and research experience.

Your comfort zone provides the safety and security of being tucked into bed. But in that safety, you accomplish nothing, experience nothing, learn nothing, and end up with nothing. It's a trap, and you need to get out. Life is for living, not merely existing. Which are you doing? The Science of Breaking Out of Your Comfort Zone is not a motivational "rah rah" book. It is not 10 different versions of "just do it" or "live, laugh, love." This book is a little different. It is a deep look, backed by science, into what keeps us from doing what we want, when we want. This book answers the question: how do you gain the confidence to consistently break out of your comfort zone to accomplish any goals you have? You'll learn what actually matters, and what to stop wasting your time on.

In Super Bowl XLIX, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made one of the most controversial calls in football history: With 26 seconds remaining, and trailing by four at the Patriots' one-yard line, he called for a pass instead of a handing off to his star running back. The pass was intercepted, and the Seahawks lost. Critics called it the dumbest play in history. But was the call really that bad? Or did Carroll actually make a great move that was ruined by bad luck? Even the best decision doesn't yield the best outcome every time.

Misinformation affects all of us on a daily basis—from social media to larger political challenges, from casual conversations in supermarkets, to even our closest relationships. While we recognize the dangers that misinformation poses, the problem is complex—far beyond what policing social media alone can achieve—and too often our limited solutions are shaped by partisan politics and individual interpretations of truth. In Misbelief, preeminent social scientist Dan Ariely argues that to understand the irrational appeal of misinformation, we must first understand the behavior of “misbelief”.

The foundations of the study of dark psychology are not modern. The models of classical comedy and tragedy during the height of the Greek Empire illustrate an understanding of this uniquely human capacity even during ancient times. The comedies and tragedies of ancient Greek theater were used as a means for society to experience catharsis - a collective exercise in which social bonding occurred by the creation and release of social tensions as a means of resolving societal conflicts.

Few of us take the time to consider. We act according to data acquired by viewing the world from a single perspective: our own. As a result, we don't always think to ask certain questions that, when answered, may benefit us greatly. We don't do important things because we never think them worth doing. We don't assess unfamiliar facets of life, even though such scrutiny might change everything about how we live.

We all want to experience pleasure and avoid pain. But there are really two kinds of pleasure and pain that motivate everything we do. If you are promotion-focused, you want to advance and avoid missed opportunities. If you are prevention-focused, you want to minimize losses and keep things working. And as Tory Higgins has found in his groundbreaking research, if you understand how people focus, you have the power to motivate yourself and everyone around you.

Historia
Nothing seems more real than the minds of other people. When you consider what your boss is thinking or whether your spouse is happy, you are admitting them into the "mind club". It's easy to assume other humans can think and feel, but what about a cow, a computer, a corporation? What kinds of minds do they have? Daniel M. Wegner and Kurt Gray are award-winning psychologists who have discovered that minds - while incredibly important - are a matter of perception.

Historia
No fictional character is more renowned for his powers of thought and observation than Sherlock Holmes. But is his extraordinary intellect merely a gift of fiction, or can we learn to cultivate these abilities ourselves, to improve our lives at work and at home? We can, says psychologist and journalist Maria Konnikova, and in Mastermind she shows us how. Beginning with the "brain attic", Konnikova unpacks the mental strategies that lead to clearer thinking and deeper insights.

Historia
A pathbreaking neuroscientist reveals how our social instincts turn Me into Us, but turn Us against Them - and what we can do about it. The great dilemma of our shrinking world is simple: never before have those we disagree with been so present in our lives. The more globalization dissolves national borders, the more clearly we see that human beings are deeply divided on moral lines - about everything from tax codes to sexual practices to energy consumption - and that, when we really disagree, our emotions turn positively tribal.

Historia
Can there be freedom and free will in a deterministic world? Renowned philosopher Daniel Dennett emphatically answers "yes!" Using an array of provocative formulations, Dennett sets out to show how we alone among the animals have evolved minds that give us free will and morality. Weaving a richly detailed narrative, Dennett explains in a series of strikingly original arguments - drawing upon evolutionary biology, cognitive neuroscience, economics, and philosophy - that far from being an enemy of traditional explorations of freedom, morality, and meaning, the evolutionary perspective can be an indispensable ally.

Narrated by a robot = poor audiobook quality.
Unfortunately I can’t speak to the story because I couldn’t bear to listen beyond the first chapter. This book is not narrated by a person, it is done with software, and you miss all the expressions that make human story telling magnificent. Imagine if you asked your Amazon Alexa to read you an entire story in her robot voice. This would be it.
