Excellent!!

Loved the narrator. Excellent book. Characters very realistic. I highly recommend this book by Catherine Ryan Hyde.

Fantastic but Disappointed

I couldn't stop listening to this. It was amazingly told but a huge let down. Steven deserved so much more happiness than the last chapter. He sacrificed so much for Nick just to be dropped off at a gay bar with the, "hope we can be friends" speech. Would love to have seen Steven find some happiness in his youth instead of constant loneliness and heart break. Poor guy only got a kiss too.

Unexpected Pleasure

What an unexpected hidden gem. I just finished listening, and as I sit here marveling at just how moving this story is, all I can think to say is: don’t pass this one by. Such a beautiful story that will linger and enrich the more you reflect on it.

So good much better than I even anticipated.

Awesome book. better than I anticipated. the last 1/3 of the book contains many nuggets of wisdom. This book examine a part of our history. How some people experienced history differently than other. Its hard to Bricktown subsurface this book, but it has a solid story and I really enjoyed it!

Wow! I just love Ms. Hyde. This book is about four friends who live during WWII. It contains so many life lessons, some good, some bad. Her writing is wonderful and easy to read and her characters are just so well developed. I found myself laughing in some spots and crying in others. I found myself angry at certain situations and rooting for the characters in others. To me, this is good writing. Ms. Hyde's writing pulls you in. Very good book!

So glad I listened

I have read many books by C. R. Hyde. I enjoyed them all. each is unique. something about this book captured by heart. The narration is beautiful, he just read the book with feeling. What I think narration should be. I fell in love with the boys in the story. the bits and pieces of philosophy sprinkled through the story were icing on a delicious cake. Thank you Ms Hyde.

Not what I was expected

I was shocked that it was about to young men crushing on each other, WW2, and learning about the Japanese Camp during that time.

Outstanding!

What an awesome story of faith and love! And even courage to know and be WHO YOU ARE no matter what is happening in the world or what time the world is in. Inspiring truly inspiring!
