Acerca de esta escucha

On a chilly November afternoon in 1998, a tearful 36-year-old man walked into the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department in Eureka, California, and confessed to something horrible.

"I hurt some people," he said. Inside his pocket was the ghastly proof of his statement. But there was more to Wayne Adam Ford than the trail of mangled victims he left behind. More, even, than the twisted predator inside, which drove him to increasingly perverse sexual appetites.

Pulitzer-nominated author Caitlin Rother draws on previously sealed testimony, interviews with the key players in the case, and the killer's shocking confession to explore the demons that drove a damaged man to his unspeakable crimes. Her book is a haunting, unforgettable true-life thriller.

Using media, police reports, court records, and those willing to be interviewed, the author details the somber gripping and graphic violence by the killer with his victims. The writer tells the story of the victims’ lives, while relating their violent murders in a way as to not forget or forgive what happened to them at the brutal hands of an abusive, controlling, angry man. I read in 2023, DNA sample confirmed the unidentified victim was Kerry Ann Cummings. Definitely recommend for fans of true crime.

Graphic and gripping

This lady has one foot in the grave just started book but it’s going to be a struggle

Worst narrator I’ve ever heard

The previous post about San Ber NAR dino pretty much sums it up. It sounds like a monotone granny robot reading this book. If she said San BerNARdino one more time, I thought I would lose my mind. It's bad when you yell at the narrator while listening.

Oh, the narration!

I don't think I have ever read a book that was so graphic, these poor women and what they went through. I thought the author did a good job giving you the facts and making you feel what each person went through. I do feel sorry for the brother who was just doing what he thought was right. I do think Adam deserves some credit for turning his self in, they didn't even know who he was and was not even close to finding him and what he had been doing. My heart really goes out to the victims and their family for all they have and are still going through.

I thought the narrator did a good job, has a pleasant normal voice, was easy to listen to. There are no repeating of words, no background and no volume change. I really didn't want to put it down.

The factors are horrible

Another very well narrated serial killer saga of the most dehumanizing. Not for the weak or squeamish, The details are graphic and include pubescent and adolescent victims.

Disturbing and thorough

this is a really interesting story, especially living in Mendocino County, but, worst narration ever. almost too distracting at times. fascinating story though.

wow!

This ladies voice and pronunciation was too much for me. She spoke with a very flat, monotone, granny voice and the way she pronounced San Bernardino was just ridiculous.
The story was ok, but rambled on too much about characters that only had a passing role.
I made it through this book... but it wasn't easy. I wouldn't recommend it.

San Ber NAR dino?

It’s not “San BerNARdino”! This narrator can’t pronounce anything in California correctly! So annoying! Besides that, she read like Siri! Awful to listen to! Would’ve been a better actual READ! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Horrible pronunciation

Right mix of detective work, victimology, backstory, legal. Extensive research by the author shows throughout the book. Smacks of Ann Rule and her unrelenting research.

Good Research —- Solid Story
