Dr. Jacalyn Kerbeck, in celebration of turning 60, looks back to 1991 when she was diagnosed with the chronic and incurable disease called ulcerative colitis. At a pivotal time in her life, this disease reared its ugly head and shook her self-esteem like a worm in the mouth of a hungry bird. Everything in Dr. Kerbeck's life changed, literally overnight. For someone who has always prided herself on being glamorous and fit, she felt reduced to diapers and shame.
It wasn't until 2018 that she was introduced to the incredible people at The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Philadelphia,
Dr. Kerbeck was able to share her feelings and her journey to help herself and others. She realized she was not alone.
