بعيون يملؤها الفزع فوجئت حسناء برؤية جبل الماء الهائل يتدفق مُنحدرًا بعنفٍ من فوق جبل الصخور المواجه لها على الناحية المقابلة من الوادي، لم تصدق عينيها وهي ترى أطنان الماء تنزل في سرعة رهيبة محملةً بالأخشاب والصخور فقد غيرت مياه السيل طبيعة تلك الأحجار فجعلتها تطفو وتتقلب مع موجات الماء وهي تشق طريقها في سرعة لتكتسح كل شيء...
ولولا أنَّ جدّة حسناء قد اختارت بعناية تلك الهضبة الصغيرة المستوية المرتفعة عن بطن الوادي لكانت كتل الصخور قد سحقت الفتاة مع عشتها المتهالكة..
كانت الجدّة قد سافرت وحدها لإحضار ماء الشرب الشحيح في تلك المنطقة ولم تعد، كان قلق حسناء على جدتها قد تزايد وحاجتها إلى ماء الشرب اشتدت حتى أصبحت تتوقع الموت عطشًا..
وفجأة رأت رأس ثعبان الطريشة اللئيم الذي يعرف كلّ أهل القرية بطشه، لكنّ المفاجأة كانت أنّ هذا الذي ظهر لها أضخم من ثعبان الطريشة بمرات ..كان ينظر مباشرةً في عينيها وكانت عيناه الخضراوان زمردتان تشعّان بريقًا كأنّهما الألماس..
