Acerca de esta escucha
After teaching creative writing for decades, Terri White finally gathered her own essays for others to enjoy. Like stand-up comedy that offers humor and wisdom, White’s collection of essays provides the listener with a peek into her life - all randomly organized.
You have a front-row seat as she sails through life on the wings of the places she’s been and the people she’s loved. Laugh at her tomfoolery, ponder her insights, and savor her memories.

Warm, Adventurous, and Interesting
Have you ever read a book that felt like an old friend? Terri White is a natural-born writer who shares her thoughts with warmth and openness. Stories from her college days, including hitchhiking, immersing herself in a completely different culture, and being a political activist in the sixties reflect her desire to be a person who wants to gain knowledge through experience. Her stories of becoming a wife and a mother, and descriptions of the beautiful old homes that were remodeled, not to mention the many “works in progress” by her husband bring to mind many experiences in my own family. Terri is a person who has always sought adventure. In truth, she has done some things that I would never do; however, reading about her having children at home, traveling to many beautiful places, and skydiving made me laugh and smile. One of the most inviting aspects of her writing is the positivity. She writes about some difficult times in life including losing loved ones, trials of friendship, and realizing that the parental mistakes you might have judged others for might one day be a stage of growth in your own family. If you are ready for a book that will make you smile, cause you to reflect on the past, and encourage you to continue to be active and seek adventure, regardless of your age, I highly recommend Back Porch Musings. When reading this book, you may often feel like you are having lunch with an old friend in your own backyard.
