  • It was just before midnight on July 18, 1969, when the little island of Chappquiddick - near Martha’s Vineyard - became the scene of international intrigue. At the centre was thirty-seven year old Senator Ted Kennedy, the youngest of the Kennedy siblings and twenty-eight-year old Mary Jo Kopeckne. The event would stall Kennedy’s political aspirations.
