Obwohl Hades, I-mon und Xantor es schaffen Kora rechtzeitig zu finden und ihr Neugeborenes zu retten, haben die Finsterlinge es geschafft das Mal zu entwenden, wobei es sich um ein als Heiligtum verehrtes Kreuz handelt. Der Stamm der Wolfsmenschen macht sie dafür verantwortlich und stellt die Fremden vor eine Wahl. Entweder müssen sie das Mal zurückerobern oder sie erwartet der Tod. Während Kora als Geisel zurückbleiben muss, machen sich ihre drei Begleiter also auf die abenteuerliche Suche. Doch Xantor hat noch eine ganz andere Suche im Sinn, die ihn zum leuchtenden Meer zieht.
In dieser dreiteiligen Reihe geht es um Hades und seine Mitabenteurer, die der Situation auf ihrem Heimatplaneten entfliehen. Denn dort werden Menschen von der Regierung unterdrückt und es ist ihnen verboten auf die Erde zurückzukehren. Doch genau dies ist das Ziel der Protagonisten, in der Hoffnung auf ein besseres Leben. Aber auch in der Hoffnung das Geheimnis zu lüften, was auf der Erde zu schlummern scheint.
Am 5. April 1943 wurde der Schweizer Schriftsteller Werner J. Egli in Luzern geboren und wuchs dort auf. Er machte eine Lehre als Positiv-Retuscheur und arbeitete anschließen für einige Jahre als Grafiker und Werbetexter. Bereits zu dieser Zeit begann er zu schreiben, unter anderem als Ghostwriter für einen deutschen Bestsellerautor, der in seiner Geburtsstadt lebte. Nach einer mehrjährigen Reise durch Nordamerika, unternahm Egli regelmäßig Reisen durch Europa und den gesamten amerikanischen Kontinent und aus diesen schöpfte er Material für seine Romane. Heute lebt der Autor in Tuscon, Arizona, und Zürich und seine unzähligen Bücher wurden in elf verschiedene Sprachen übersetzt und mit zahlreichen Preisen ausgezeichnet.
