Einst geschaffen, um den Nephilim - den Engelskindern eine Zuflucht zu bieten, ehe sie sich ihr Privileg verdienen dürfen, das Reich der Engel zu betreten. Eine von ihnen ist Liora, die es kaum erwarten kann, am Ritual der Wandlung teilzunehmen und ihr ganz persönliches Dämonenkind zugeteilt zu bekommen, mit dem sie unter Beweis stellen kann, dass sie würdig ist, den Engelsstaus zu erhalten.
