Baseball great Jim "Catfish" Hunter was a right-handed starting pitcher in the major leagues between 1965 and 1979 - he pitched a perfect game in 1968. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987. In 1974 he claimed the American League Cy Young Award.

Hunter ended his career winning 224 games and earning five World Series rings. This interview talks about those great moments and the players he shared them with. It also reveals how Charles Finley, owner of the Kansas City Athletics, gave Hunter the nickname "Catfish".

Hunter is interviewed by Ann Liguori, award-winning luminary in sports broadcasting with a celebrated career that spans two decades. Liguori has interviewed some of the most legendary sports personalities, drawing out their success stories, their opinions on a variety of issues, and their love of the game.

Reseñas editoriales

The late Hall of Famer Jim "Catfish" Hunter retired from baseball with a remarkable five World Series rings, a Cy Young Award, a perfect game, and 224 wins - all by the age of 33. In this candid interview with esteemed sports journalist Ann Liguori, the North Carolina pitcher spins yarns on everything from the origins of his unusual nickname to his contentious relationship with high-handed owners George Steinbrenner and Charlie Finley. Hunter's career with the A's and Yankees serves as a backdrop for broader changes in baseball. Whether he's recalling westward expansion, the advent of free agency, or the media savvy Finley's gimmicky penchant for mustaches and brightly colored uniforms, Hunter's story is that of baseball in the modern era.
