A scripturally sound set of lectures

Murray’s Collection on Prayer is a challenging work, challenging in a good way. Like prayer, it can be a bit repetitive, but it needs to be to enforce the vital pedagogy. The lectures cleave closely to scripture, and everything is well explained. These are lessons in 1st Century Christianity, from which many churches have strayed widely. One would benefit from reading/listening to this repeatedly, year after year. As a recovered alcoholic and beneficiary of the grace I found in AA, I see that the basic principles of recovery (surrender, annihilation of ego, trust if God) are derived from foundational Christian teachings, which were radical from the start, and will probably always be radical, as challenging as they are.
