A Good Read with a Lot of Solid World Building

Overall a very good read with a lot of solid world building and then the story ends, which at first was annoying but made me want to read more! I look forward to reading more from this author.

Where does ...And They All Lived Happily Ever After! rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This audio version brings these stories to life. While limited to sounds and vocal ranges, narrator Kay Richards does an excellent job of creating real life conversations from printed text. With simple door slams and acoustic clunks, audio stories rely on the listener’s imagination to create the scene. Yet, if written appropriately, this can be a fascinating experience. With Connor’s stories there is a level of mystery and intrigue subtly planted. Connor uses the same techniques as Stephen King where she introduces images in the mind of the reader/listener. The reader/listener then creates the rest of the tale in their heads. This creates a truly one of a kind experience with Connor’s stories.I read the printed version first. The narration, like other similar book audios, can lack in certain elements. Where I envisioned grand description, the narrator seem to gloss over that part of the story, quickly and breezily. And where I stop to take a breath, I expected the narrator to stop as well. One thing that threw me off was the quick transition from one story to the next. A longer pause or a chime or something different would alert me that the next story was beginning. Because Connor’s stories are exciting and action-packed, I didn’t want to miss a beat. I wonder… Is it acceptable to add more music or thundering noises to a horror audio? That would truly make the listening experience akin to a movie.Like a child, I enjoyed listening to the story being played out for me. Audio versions, in any genre, are great additions when you have the printed books. It truly adds another dimension to the story; one where you discover little details you thought you knew.

I love all Crystal Connor's books. This is the first audio version I have heard though.
