Did you know that pet mice only live for about three years, but those living out in the countryside are lucky if they can live just half as long? You see, there are a lot of predators who eat mice, such as owls, foxes, weasels, cats, hawks and even snakes.
And wild mice are unwelcome in people’s houses, because if they get into your kitchen, they will feed on whatever they can find and will even nibble shoes! Farmers don’t like them either, because they eat the seeds he harvests and the fruit he grows. That’s why most humans think of them as a pest to be got rid of and why mice don’t have many friends!
So, when hundreds were forced away from their homes, only the Hobtails could help them.
