Where is the ending?

I love Jane Heller but I was disappointed in the ending. I feel like she left the reader hanging.

I listened to 28% and knew what was going to happen. It was absolutely predictable.

All the scenes with the assistant . I know the assistant is going to end up figuratively throwing her under the bus .

This book was described as being smart and witty. I found it to be sad and very predictable.
