Acerca de esta escucha
We know there’s a lot of people out there who think our school is a dead end. And that all the kids inside it are dead ends, too....
But they’ve got it all wrong. Just you wait and see!
James, Rhondell, Sharice, and Marcel are four inner-city students on a quest to build the world’s largest tetrahedron with their math teacher, Mr. Collins. If they succeed, maybe Rhondell will make new friends, Sharice’s foster mother may start to care, James will discover something he’s good at, and Marcel’s dad will finally see that there is more to life than barbecue. Maybe they’ll even end up in the Guinness Book of World Records!
Weaving together the stories of the kids, their teacher, and the community that surrounds them, award-winning author Shelley Pearsall has crafted a vividly engaging story about math, life, and the importance of friendship.

When a novel like Huckleberry Finn or The Yearling comes along, it defies customary adjectives because of the intensity of the response it evokes in the reader. Such a tale is Old Yeller; to listen to this eloquently simply story of a boy and his dog in the Texas hill country is an unforgettable and deeply moving experience.

Great!!!
This book is very important and inspiring, it shows many real life struggles and the values of kindness and friendship. I liked how each chapter switched from character to character. The ending was also really good.

what a delightful surprise!
I love having access to content to introduce me to new themes, concepts and writers. Shelley Pearsall Captured me from the beginning. Her carefully crafted descriptions had me driving through the neighborhood and walking down the halls of the school. I saw the faces of the students and the teachers and somehow there was just enough information given that drove me to dig deeper. As the story unfolded so did many of the students backstories. It was a delicate approach, just enough, but not so much to detract from the task at hand. I found myself trying to visualize the pyramid, with all of it's colors and textures. Truly a delightful listen!!!

School Book
We listened to this book as it was suggested by the Sonlight Homeschool Curriculum. My kids are 10, 7 and 5. As the adult, I certainly liked this book the most. I really appreciated how there was back story to each of the kids and the teacher. My kids were mostly interested and I think the voice cast helped keep their attention. I'm not sure how they felt about the overall story, but they are currently working on building a tetrahedron, so it at least inspired them.
