In this interview from 2008, journalist and author Roger Rosenblatt interviews Alice McDermott, winner of both an American Book Award and a National Book Award for Fiction. Rosenblatt begins the program by reading exquisitely from the first chapter of McDermott's novel After This. In conversation, McDermott then expands on her own work and the themes that underlie her prose. Alice McDermott is great, Rosenblatt is an a-hole
Roger Rosenblatt comes across as an arrogant, pompous self inflating asshole. He brags about himself and demeans McDermott. McDermott managed to be poised and insightful despite this jerk.
