def. of holistic, living what is preached!
the book gives deep insights into the life of Alexander Humbolt, at times to detailed, but a colorful and insightful description of personalities that influenced Alex and that he influenced to the point where one wonders if the author was there or must have seen a movie of them.
the closing circle in the book of a call for environmentalism lays in parallel to the holistic view of the origin of ecology that regards all aspects of nature holistically, well done!

Wonderful book
Would you listen to Alexander von Humboldt und die Erfindung der Natur again? Why?
Comprehensive book about the life, ideas and contribution of Alexander von Humboldt to world knowledge. I am impressed by how the author brought all this to life, and how she was able to show the amazing level of energy and motivation Humboldt must have had in order to detect and persue his ambition.
