Cyprus is known for its beautiful beaches, spectacular sunsets, and wonderful climate. Vacationers by the thousands come here each year to enjoy this island of adventure and frolic. Cyprus has always been recognized for its beauty and mild climate, as well as its strategic location. Through the centuries each competing culture has left its mark on the culture we have come to know as "Cypriot." Each invading ethnic group left archaeological monuments and a rich history, and an identity that has been linked together into a mosaic of sight, sound, language, religion, and culinary delights. In this book, we will explore only one of the influences on the Island of Cyprus that has left an undisputed mark and that is the significance of Biblical culture and the establishment of Christianity. Cyprus has a rich history in both the Old and New Testaments and this religious role is seen throughout the island through its massive display of archaeological evidence. You will visit archaeological sites that are mentioned in the Old Testament scriptures and those mentioned in the New. You will walk where Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark walked on their first missionary journey. You will discover highlights of Biblical culture, mores, language, and the development of Christianity to its present significance. It is all linked together in a melting pot of thoughts and ideas and displayed in historical monuments both in the north and the south. Cyprus is an island to be enjoyed and experienced from its roots in prehistory to the dictates of the present.
