Nest is a best.

Love all Montlabano books. Serious and funny. Nest of Vipers is one of the best.

Great story as usual. Confused about Livia.

In Beam of light Livia is confronted by Francois’ death but then in A Voice in the Night Salvo says how fit Livia looks and she revealed that she had been working out for six months. There was no mention of Francois or the emotional state of Livia. Then in Nest of vipers suddenly Livia is a wreck due to Francois’ death and after a while adopted a stray dog who helped her get out of her grief. I was left feeling like I listened to the books out of order. I checked a few fan sites and they all agreed on the order of the stories. Still a great book in an excellent series.

Flawed people

law-enforcement, sicily, murder-investigation

The murder victim was without redeeming value, a real sociopath. He used people without remorse or any thought. The various aspects of his actions unfold as Montalbano and others in the law enforcement agencies dig into the man's life and his victims. There is intentional and unintentional humor to lighten it up a bit, as well as Montalbano's squabbles with his long time girlfriend, and the antics of his coworkers. Well worth the read.
Grover Gardner has perfected just the right delivery for Camilleri's books.

This was okay

This is the 21st book in the Inspector Montalbano series. The books are not too long and they’re a quick read/listen.

I’ve enjoyed these books but I have to admit the relationship between Salvo and Livia has me puzzled.

This was an interesting case for the inspector and his team. The victim was not a nice person and his murder opens up some stories best left hidden.

Again, the narration is well done.

I hate to say it but Salvo is getting old

The ending was predictable from almost the beginning .. I love this series and have every book. I absolutely hate Livia who continues to rompere cog lions and this books makes even more insufferable. The worst part was Salvo not seeing the criminal until the very end..
