Rhett harbors a secret crush on autumn-loving Amelia, but one embarrassing incident in high school is enough make the two of them actively avoid one another for the rest of their lives. Rhett is a local newspaper reporter. On the heels of a broken marriage, his work is suffering and he needs a good story to pull him out of his journalistic rut. The newspaper archives lead him to the cold case of a boy who went missing 20 years prior.
When the missing boy’s story leads Rhett to the site of the city’s fall festival, Amelia and Rhett are forced to confront their embarrassing past and work together. And fate (and one very mischievous one-eyed rescue dog) wants them to be together.

The characters in this book are so endearing.
I love how the author's characters come alive the minute the story begins. Her imagery is simply delightful. You can feel the sticky coffee dripping off of Amelia in the funniest scenes and you can hear humor and wit in each moment with Aunt Margie. You feel sorry for poor pathetic Rhett.
The narration is very well done. The accents are almost perfect. My favorite was the male narrator for Rhett. He nailed the southern accents of the characters in the story.

Wonderful autumn romance with mystery!
This is such a fun romance with a mystery twist. The narration is spot on with authentic Southern accents. Lots of humorous moments, and a few tear-jerker ones too. The perfect listen for fall.
