Old but interesting

This book poses promises that I have considered before. It makes you think which is something I enjoy in a book.

A little dated

The story seemed a bit dated till you remember it was written in 1968. Amazing!

Human story in sci-fi setting

I always enjoyed this one, good pace and realistic characters. Not to weighty and fires the imagination. Story always stuck with me from childhood.

The amazing PSI power that Matt K has.

I love the sense of history this book has. It is one of L Niven's great story.

Look, I picked this book up thinking it was about a sweet present from the heavens—maybe a celestial fruit basket or interstellar socks. Nope. Turns out the “gift” is a corpse. A dramatic, political, planet-shaking corpse. Classic mix-up!

Larry Niven delivers a sci-fi thriller full of ethical quandaries, medical horror, and the kind of social hierarchy that makes you grateful for your local DMV. It’s got oppressed colonists, immortal organ recipients with zero chill, and one sneaky rebel who won't stay properly dead. You’ll laugh (nervously), cry (probably from eye strain), and ponder whether you'd donate your spleen to a totalitarian government if asked nicely.

I lost a star because I spent half the book trying to remember who was in which caste, and the other half Googling, "How many organs can one person donate before they become a beanbag?" But still—solid space drama with enough weirdness to make you suspicious of your next blood test.

Recommended for fans of ethical dilemmas, dystopian sci-fi, and morally questionable healthcare plans!

not Niven's greatest work, but quite good

this is far from Niven's best book, but it is quite good. the reading actually makes it better.

not his best work but entertaining

not his strongest work but all in all not a bad story . I was entertained not engrossed but entertained.

Old time sci-fi that satisfies

Always enjoyed Larry Niven’s brand of space tales and this did not disappoint. Give it a try.

entertaining concepts

Have reviewed many works,but never really commented much. This one was entertaining at best. "lookatthat" mountain and "we made it" ? come on, let's at least try to put our mind in the character of a space traveler when writing a space novel. like I said, entertaining at best.

A Gift from Finagle

Decent narration, and a classic entry from Niven's Known Space universe. The only real weakness is the epilogue which has nothing to do with this story and only serves to provide some information relevant to Known Space overall.
