Cozy, entertaining

A Death, A Duke, & Miss Mifford by Claudia Stone is an excellent regency cozy murder mystery. Tim Fearon did an incredible job with the narration, and bringing the story to life. The story is entertaining, interesting, cozy, romantic, enjoyable, engaging, dramatic, comedic, and witty. A Death, A Duke, & Miss Mifford is the first book in the series Regency Murder and Marriage.
After the unsuccessful season in London, Miss Mary Mifford thinks she is a spinster and turns home to Plumpton. Sixth Duke of Northcott Henry William Lockhart returns home after his father’s death. When Mary is falsely accused of murdering a rector. Henry Steps in to help clear Mary’s name. As the list of suspects grow, so do the feelings between them. Mary might not be a spinster after all. But will their relationship last or will it end after they clear Mary’s name. Will where be a marriage?

Clever and Cozy

This really hits all the right notes for the genre. The main characters are likable, but not too perfect. The mystery keeps you guessing, but plays fair enough that the solution makes sense. It’s funny without treating murder like a punchline.

The narrator doesn’t sound like the typical romance narrator guy. But he’s super engaging and keeps the story notes clicking along.

Overall, strong recommend if Regency cozy is your genre.

A good mystery and a charming romance

Miss Mary Mifford has resigned herself to spinsterhood and doing good works. When a death occurs and Miss Mifford is a prime suspect, the Duke of Northcott starts to investigate. As Mary and the Duke work together to discover the true murderer, Mary’s plans to remain unattached seem to be in jeopardy. Cute, funny with some poignant parts, I look forward to reading the next in the The narration was outstanding and brought the characters and story to life.

Tim Fearon’s narration brings elegance and personality to the characters, perfectly capturing the tone of the story. An enjoyable and engaging listen — looking forward to listening to A Victim, A Viscount, and Miss Mifford, the next in the series.
