One mystic's journey

I want to start by clarifying I am coming to this book as someone who is not a student of ACIM, but who enjoys learning about other peoples' personal spiritual journeys, so I'm writing this review from that perspective. In this book, Tom Wakechild recounts his own mystical experiences and explains how they work within ACIM. In the author's account of his life, he achieved non-dual spiritual experience using other paths before learning about ACIM. Later when he found ACIM, he felt that it's message was aligned with his own experiences, and that his calling to teach it would help fulfill a spiritual pact he had made in his youth. From that perspective, the author's discussion of his personal mystical experiences and journey were the most thought-provoking parts of the book to me. I didn't detect anything in them really specific to ACIM that could not be learned from many world mystical traditions, and so as with any of them the question is whether or not ACIM is the best vehicle of understanding to click with the particular reader in question. If you were raised in a traditional western religious background and find yourself struggling with angst and anxiety that is preventing you from achieving spiritual fulfillment, this book will most likely be very helpful to you in identifying beliefs that may be holding you back and offering you a new perspective. If you come from a different kind of background or have already achieved a non-dual worldview via another path, you may find some of the specifics of ACIM to be less compelling, but the author's personal journey is inspiring regardless.

Wakechild continues his commitment to present ACIM’s message of hope, forgiveness and love to all in a clear, logical yet understandable way. By using numerous exercises, you are taken on a personal journey of self-discovery as you learn what you truly value and why. I find this makes ACIM’s message both more relatable and practical in my everyday life.
Believability for me was not an issue when I first became aware of ACIM. Yet I can understand that this book will aid those who find ACIM’s message difficult to believe. The narrator, Joshua Johnson, does a terrific job holding your interest and relating some of the personal stories that led the author to believe.
For those, who like me, find ACIM difficult to decipher due to its terminology and different levels of reality, this narration comes with a downloadable ACIM Study Guide. This guide covers key ideas, includes a glossary of terms, Laws and Axioms all clearly defined. This guide is an invaluable tool and worth the price of the book.
If you are thinking about which spiritual path may be for you, this book is a terrific introduction to A Course In Miracles and will provide a solid foundation for any additional study of The Course. It addresses the root cause of the problem while offering ACIM’s solution at its most direct and basic level.
Both new and longtime students of The Course will appreciate this book’s clarity and practical message for living in this world. We are learners not earners. I highly recommend this book. It does not disappoint. It truly delivers.

Excellent writing and understanding

I have read the book ( superb) and listen to this most days. The writer, Tom Wakechild is precise with his words and relays the Course wisdom with such straight forward application, everyone can now fully understand ACIM and all its sharing.
Tom relays the course simply, allowing you to embrace its application which is necessary so you can live in peace no matter your circumstances.
Tom is a mystic that keeps it real and makes this wisdom practical so we can all live an authentic life that’s the truthful expression of our being.

The book is an excellent explanation and clarification of ACIM and the narration is superb.

Inspiring message for our times!

I have been a seeker of truth and a student of A course in Miracles for over 20 years. I have experienced much growth in my spirituality, but I still needed some of my questions and concerns answered. This book contains answers to my questions and is assisting me in understanding who I am and how I could be living a better spiritual life. Its practical message and insightful exercises are helping me by offering a way to stop being manipulated by blame, shame and guilt. I have gained a better understanding of the big picture, what I am and why I am here.

This book comes from the heart as the author shares some of his personal experiences as to why he believes in ACIM’s message and that has strengthened my own belief. It opened a path to better awareness of the liberating message of the Course In Miracles and a deeper understanding about what love and forgiveness are all about.

This book is truly inspiring, thoughtful and logically presented. It addresses the key concepts of ACIM while providing clarity to a deeper understanding of the Course. The narrator is expressive and does an excellent job. The book comes with a detailed study guide for current and future reference that includes a much appreciated clearly defined glossary of terms. I highly recommend this book and only wish I had found it 20 years ago.

Long time teacher review

I studied ACIM for a long time to try and understand the ins and outs of the complex text. Understanding arrived slowly. It took a while to let the stories from the 70s make sense in the new millennium.
Tom’s book helped me see how I could apply ACIM to my life today. It helped me turn away from fear towards the light.
You must empty your mind to make this work.
