But what I loved the most was the tiny glimpse into the Welsh culture and atmosphere

I absolutely love all these characters. I can't wait till the next books come out I'm always anxiously looking for them. you won't be disappointed in how he builds his characters

This is an excellent series and this installment wholly satisfying.

I don’t appreciate sarcasm but, somehow, Evan’s is forgiven. Each member of the ensemble is memorable and engaging in different ways. The travelogue aspect is not overdone and it is a joy to have a gifted narrator speak the lyrical Welsh in places. I can’t imagine what I would do with that on the page. Great plotting as always. More please.

Another great one

Rhys Dylan weaves another great story for DCI Warlow and the gang. Makes me want to visit Wales.

Good narrator

The story was entertaining and the villian not obvious. The delivery was good, and it is worth a listen.

CHARACTERS!

All of these books are solid, good reads. Love to learn about Wales and Welsh pronunciations -though there are many references to pop culture across the pond. I wish Gil was a friend of mine, because nearly everything he says makes me laugh out loud. I am pretty picky - and I give all of the books in this series a solid two thumbs up!

inconsistencies not as well written as the other 7

i have read in order from beginning. I find this one not as well written as there are inconsistencies. I should have made a list if i known there would be a few. the biggest one is calling out the girls names. when Rhys (i am listening so i am assuming this is the spelling - my last name is Reese, my fathers family from Wales and the name was changed at Ellis Island - of course) and Katerine ( again not reading so spelling of names will be off but the audio actor pronounces Kat or Cat erine not kath or Catherine) when they are looking for girls they are walking the area yelling their names, they even say why not because of the area. at the end with 35ish minutes to go we have Rhys and Warlow and eventually others just looking through this new found area with lots of hiding places and no one is calling their names. I am yelling at listening device ' yell their names'

Also this book more than others i found the characters confusing, maybe too many of them. and of course for an american some pretty complicated Welsh names. I started to write in the notes on my phone (listening device) what i thought was spelling and where these characters were from - location in book. and then the stupid podcast people with more names.

I think the audio actor was i little harder to understand in this book. I read a lot of UK mystery thrillers and I am pretty good with accents but admittedly Welsh and Scottish are the hardest.

one thing i do love is when Gil or Warlow says a phrase in Welsh, I like the way the author lets us subtly know the meaning by saying that phrase in english followed by indeed or like phrase. Not that I will remember it but its great to know what was said I am to the next book
