Eye Opening Listen on Constitutional Government

Many will debate the basis of the author's writing, but in doing so, they will be questioning the very basis of the Constitution of the United States . . . America has sadly become a country of whiners and self-serving belly-achers, the likes of which are serving in the highest offices in our government . . . the vision that our founding fathers had for this great republic (yes, REPUBLIC) has been lost amongst an increasingly heavy handed executive office, grabbing control, where there was no legal authority to do so . . . robbing the Congress and Senate, and individual states of their own right to legislate as originally planned and penned by our constitution . . . an ever increasing slippery slope has led is to where we are now . . . although I am not as optimistic as the author that the problem can ever be fixed (because America is now a nation of wimps), I do agree with his analysis of the issues . . . this is the kind of history that our children need to be taught in school . . .

Clear cut, straightforward, unbiased

This presented a well founded case about how the Office of the Presidency has deteriorated over the last 150 years and really emphasizes what the Executive Branch ought to be and what it has become. It isn’t personal, it’s government.

The sad part is that everything he said was true.

Our government is out of control, and this does an excellent job explaining how we have inherited this mess. I highly recommend.

Great Historical Perspective

Very informative book. Although I do not agree with all the author's viewpoints, he is correct in 95% of what he is saying.

good and flawed

While well written and argued, it is just another example of originalist fantasy. the ideas espoused here would have worked in 1800 today it is truly illusional

Not your average history book

This has to be one of the most unique and compelling looks at the American presidency I've ever read. McCallohan breaks all the rules by challenging every single orthodoxy, challenging It with sound and logical arguments, then leaving the reader reeling realizing everything they've ever been taught is wrong

What you didn’t know

What they didn’t teach you in history, and the news never told you. From the authors point of view, it is an eye opening thought provoking read. It makes you look at events without party lines.

Well researched

I enjoy Brion Mcclanahan’s podcast, and have been interested in reading this book. The information and history is well researched, and detailed. The book describes why these 9 presidents are on this list. In an era with instant information, and a lack of common sense this book describes exactly why the author has the opinions expressed. I found this to be a good read, d plan on listening again.
