それでも各地に、大廃線に抗い続ける鉄道事業者はぽつぽつと点在している。
そうした鉄道各社・各路線の沿線の魅力を、音という切り口から紹介しようという企画、「蓄音レヱル」が、とある大新聞社の主催によって立ち上げられた。
音を探し出して紹介する大役を担うことになるのは、普段はその路線を走る列車の運転制御をサポートしている人形/人形型のモジュール、“レイルロオド”たち。
旧帝鉄の本線の一部を第3セクター方式で残存させた、高嵜(たかさき)-横河(よこかわ)をつなぐ路線――高嵜鉄道横河線の誇る1大スタア、D51 840専用レイルロオドのランにも、当然のように蓄音レヱルへの参加依頼が届けられた。

日ノ本の全レイルロオドの中でも屈指の人気を誇り、望まれるがまま常にスターとして振る舞い。
