A wonderful book

The author took a deep look into how the Nazi occupation would affect each resident. What would each do? The book made me ask what I would do. I am reading it a second time.

Stunning

33 Bergman is a stunning portrait of a time and place. It is magnificently written. This novel will stay with you long after you reached the last page.

Stunning by performances; immaculately braided narrative; devastating in all its endings.

Performance; story; setting; all familiar to the genre but singular in the telling. Austen is superb.

Brussels sprouts in these realistic characters

33 Place Brugman presents a realistic portrait of possible neighbors and their potential conflicts in a typical Belgian neighborhood. Having lived in Brussels for 17 years myself, I appreciated this portrait of war time Brussels and the complicated relationships that existed. I also thought the performances were excellent. Bravo!

No flow, no plot

This was one of the worst books I’ve listened to. The story line was hard to grasp and the narration was robotic and cringy. I couldn’t keep the characters straight. There was no protagonist, no clear antagonist. Very weak.
