Americans wage many of today’s fiercest policy debates and culture wars over constitutional meaning. It’s because constitutional law is so fundamental to our democracy that law schools across the country teach the subject. It's the area of law that determines what federal and state governments are permitted to do, and what rights you have as an individual citizen of the US. Here, you'll get the same accessible, well-rounded introduction to constitutional law as a typical law student - but with the added benefit of noted constitutional scholar Eric Berger's brilliant insights.

Historia
The Vision of the Anointed is a devastating critique of the mindset behind the failed social policies of the past thirty years. Thomas Sowell sees what has happened not as a series of isolated mistakes, but as a logical consequence of a vision whose defects have led to disasters in education, crime, family disintegration, and other social pathology. In this book, "politically correct" theory is repeatedly confronted with facts-and sharp contradictions between the two are explained in terms of a whole set of self-congratulatory assumptions held by political and intellectual elites.

As Ferguson, Missouri, erupted in August 2014 and media commentators across the ideological spectrum referred to the angry response of African Americans as 'Black rage', historian Carol Anderson wrote a remarkable op-ed in the Washington Post showing that this was, instead, 'white rage at work. With so much attention on the flames,' she wrote, 'everyone had ignored the kindling.'

Niall Ferguson follows the money to tell the human story behind the evolution of finance, from its origins in ancient Mesopotamia to the latest upheavals on what he calls Planet Finance. Bread, cash, dosh, dough, loot, lucre, moolah, readies, the wherewithal: Call it what you like, it matters. To Christians, love of it is the root of all evil. To generals, it's the sinews of war. To revolutionaries, it's the chains of labor. Niall Ferguson shows that finance is in fact the foundation of human progress.

Historia
This reissue of Thomas Sowell’s classic study of decision making, which includes a preface by the author, updates his seminal work in the context of The Vision of the Anointed. Sowell, one of America’s most celebrated public intellectuals, describes in concrete detail how knowledge is shared and disseminated throughout modern society. He warns that society suffers from an ever-widening gap between firsthand knowledge and decision making—a gap that threatens not only our economic and political efficiency but our very freedom.

Highly Recommend
With all due respect, this book was a refreshing change after listening to "The Supremes' Greatest Hits" by M. G. Trachtman. The tone of Hudson's book was light, unbiased, explanatory, and very interesting. We've really grown as a society as evidenced by these landmark cases. It is something to be proud of. The cases decided by the Supreme Court that were highly controversial were communicated with respect. He discussed all sides of the issues with a tone of neutrality helping the listener understand not just the thought behind the majority decisions but the dissents. I love how he discussed the unpopular viewpoints within the context from which they came and also with sensitivity. This was also very refreshing to me. As a result, I really loved this book and will be getting more from this author. I would recommend it to anyone interested in a nice summary of the landmark Supreme Court decisions! 5 stars!

Wow! Erudite, lively and practical presentation.
Prof. Hudson makes the law come alive like no other writer or presenter I've yet encountered. He combines a near encyclopedic knowledge of the count's most impactful cases with a story-teller's knack for memorable human anecdotes. I learned a great deal about American history and the background behind some of the most hotted debated topics - free speech abortion rights, equality, etc. - of our time. Hudson is the paragon of law professors.

Extremely Enlightening
An excellent listen to any person who loves history or is trying to learn law. As a law student, I have read/or listened to books covering the Supreme Court during Earl Warren, Berger, Rehnquist, and Robert's. Also, I have read books authored by Scalia and the great RBG. The keynote cases from these and others are covered in this series. From Marbury v Madison which was covered in Without Precedent (a riveting story on Chief Justice Marshall) to a Virginia case on gender equality that is covered in RBGs book, Hudson has managed to bring each case to life while sharing some behind the scenes occurrences that makes the case even more interesting.

information that puts things into perspective
the narrator was soft spoken and has a Ben Stein like monotone and dispassionate delivery. for the information provided is thorough and really puts into perspective how our constitution is a living document.
There are some errors, but they're easy to pick out and if you hear them you will understand what the narrator meant to say.

David Hudson is one of the most engaging lecturers I've encountered, and I've listened to many. He explores a broad set of fascinating and impactful Supreme Court cases with a keen sense for the legal and historic issues/questions while weaving together fascinating human stories.
