そしてそんな数ある名作のうちに、「前期三部作」「後期三部作」と呼ばれる作品群があります。ご存知でない方も多いかもしれません。しかしこれら三部作を知らずして夏目漱石は語れません。前期三部作、後期三部作を読んで初めて、夏目漱石を知ることができると言えるでしょう。
前期三部作は「三四郎」「それから」「門」です。
物語はそれぞれ異なりますが、失恋や略奪といった大人の都会的な恋愛が、三作で順に展開しています。
後期三部作は「彼岸過迄」「行人」「こころ」です。
後期では自我、自意識と人間関係によって悩み苦しむ人間の姿が描かれています。
どの作品も舞台は過去の時代でありながら、人間の姿は現在と変わりません。リアルに描かれる人間模様は、あなたの人生に照らして、反省や新たな知見をもたらしてくれるかもしれません。それ故に、夏目漱石は史上一番の国民的作家となりえたのです。
