Acerca de esta escucha
いくつかの言語に精通していた宮武正道ですが、この童話集を刊行後、セレベスやジャワに渡航後はいっそうマレー語に関心を持ったようです。
海の無い奈良県で生まれ育った宮武正道には、南洋への憧れもあったのかもしれません。
昔話に、人々を苦しめる怪物や、ちょっと変わった神様が出てくるのは世界共通。
でも、紹介させていただくこれらの物語には、それにプラスして南洋の潮の香りと波の音、風が感じられます。
聴取者の皆様にもぜひ、それらを思い浮かべながら、お聞きいただければと思います。

宮武正道
言語研究者。1912年、奈良県の裕福な製墨店に生まれる。中学高時代、エキゾチックな事物に対する憧れから切手収集を始め、やがて、国際語であるエスペラント語へと関心を深めていく。
1930年理外国語学校に進学し、マレー語を履修。奈良エスペラント協会を創設。その中で、パラオからの留学生であり、酋長を父に持つエラケツと知り合い、彼から聞き取ったパラオの民話、童話、伝説を日本語訳し「南洋パラオ島の伝説と民話」として出版した。インドネシア初代大統領スカルノの通訳をつとめ、タガログ語の辞書の刊行も目指したが、完成を待たずに1944年没。©2023 PanRolling
