Historia
Most days, Sarya doesn't feel like the most terrifying creature in the galaxy. Most days, she's got other things on her mind. Like hiding her identity among the hundreds of alien species roaming the corridors of Watertower Station. Or making sure her adoptive mother doesn't casually eviscerate one of their neighbors. Again. And most days, she can almost accept that she'll never know the truth - that she'll never know why humanity was deemed too dangerous to exist.

Her name is Binti, and she is the first of the Himba people ever to be offered a place at Oomza University, the finest institution of higher learning in the galaxy. But to accept the offer will mean giving up her place in her family to travel between the stars among strangers who do not share her ways or respect her customs. Knowledge comes at a cost, one that Binti is willing to pay, but her journey will not be easy. The world she seeks to enter has long warred with the Meduse, an alien race that has become the stuff of nightmares.

it was okay.
Revisado: 01-22-19
A nice little coming-of-age story. Personally, I like more SCI in my SciFi. This was like sci-fi lite. Also, it's a very short story. Still, the main character is very Likable, which keeps you engaged. All in all I do not regret consuming this.

Captain Hammond Roystan is a simple cargo runner who has stumbled across the find of a lifetime: the Hassim, a disabled exploration ship - and its valuable record of unexplored worlds. His junior engineer, Josune Arriola, said her last assignment was in the uncharted rim. A renowned body-modification artist, Nika Rik Terri has run afoul of clients who will not take no for an answer, and she is dragging along a rookie modder. Together this mismatched crew will end up on one ship, hurtling through the lawless reaches of deep space with Roystan at the helm.

2018's best Scifi adventure!
Revisado: 10-06-18
Right away this book had the two most important elements of a good scifi story.
1. A fascinating and imaginative piece of scifi tech, that is described just enough (not too much, not too little) to keep the reader engaged. The 'body modding' idea really did this for me. The very concept of being able to change ones body was compelling. 2. A chance to 'ride along' on an adventure with characters you care about. Early on I found myself rooting for Nika, Roystan and the others. Ending was satisfying, wrapped up the story well, and still left room for a sequel.
Consider me a fan of the Dunstall sisters.

Tedious
Revisado: 01-22-18
What would have made Empaths better?
Editing. I don't know if this storytelling technique has a name, but it's annoying and Jucha keeps using it. He'll reveal a new plot development to the protagonists (and we the readers), then he'll re-reveal it to a second group/person, then he’ll re-re-reveal it to a third group/person and so on. I gotta say, after the third (or greater) time hearing the characters react to this same plot development I wanna scream! Really started to feel like he was trying to stretch story.
***Spoilers Ahead****
I also did not like the idea of Empaths who output good-vibes to all their friends, essentially addicting them to good emotions. Are these the protagonist??
Has Empaths turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I love Sci Fi.
Have you listened to any of Nicole Poole’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
At times the voices she uses for males seemed cartoonish, but overall her performance was good.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It wasn’t all bad. I enjoyed the premise of the book. Following another group of humans who branched out from a struggling Earth to make a new home among the stars. (This would be the 3rd group. The New Terrans, the Meridians, and now the Pyreans.) But the execution of this story leaves a lot to be desired.
Any additional comments?
If you want to see this writers best stuff, check out the first few Silver ships novels. As for the Pyrean branch of the Juchaverse it's not starting out well. Hopefully he'll score with the second book in this series.

Historia
When a spaceship landed in an open field in the quiet mill town of Sorrow Falls, Massachusetts, everyone realized humankind was not alone in the universe. With that realization everyone freaked out for a little while. Or almost everyone. The residents of Sorrow Falls took the news pretty well. This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

Revisado: 12-03-16
Not what I'm looking for when I think Sci-fi. The story was much more focused on contemporary things than I like. (this was Sci-fi lite) It also includes some horror story staples. I don't like horror on my Sci-fi.
The reader was excellent however. He was very easy to follow. All in all I didn't hate it, but u didn't love it.

Earth's population must now make its first planet-wide decision - join the most powerful alliance in our galaxy or chart our own course, deciding for ourselves which civilizations are worthy of our trust. From terrific to tiresome
Revisado: 11-27-16
If you could sum up TFS Theseus in three words, what would they be?
Too many details.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The most interesting parts of the book are the space battles, the political intrigue between different Earth factions and Alien cultures, and imagining the fantastic technologies. The least interesting thing was hearing the endless details of certain technologies, repairs?!?!, and military maneuvers. Yes less can be more. Tori did this in the book one too. I'm a hard scifi fan (this is not hard scifi) still even I was bored by this.
What does Jeffrey Kafer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He does really well with bring the military types to life through his reading.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Much better after editing.
Any additional comments?
I'd give Jeffrey Kafer's reading a 7.5 out of 10. Overall I loved listening to him, but he's somewhat weak in distinguishing characters.

A new standard for audio books
Revisado: 08-18-16
Let me say first that I listen to many audio books. With that said, I still feel this is the best audio book production I have ever heard. Including several voice actors, sound effects, and music, this audio book puts you in the mind of an old radio show. This production gives me hope. So many times books are poorly translated into films, for example: Battlefield Earth. Perhaps other poorly translated books, could be made into well done audio books such as this one.
As for the story, I really enjoyed it. It's classic adventure, with a Sci-Fi twist. Not hard sci-fi, by any means. (If you are looking for hard sci-fi this is not the book for you.) However, if you like adventure stories with a square-jawed hero come to save the day you'll love this book. The book is long, but LRH really keeps you interested through out. (to say nothing of the voice actors) I really enjoyed the voice of Terl and Dries Gloten.
I would definitely say pull the trigger on this one. You won't be disappointed.

You really should have read part one before this book. If you have read part 1 then you will enjoy part 2. The story is heating up. Lots of action and tense moments. Still no profanity, which I appreciate. All around a good book.
