Historia
The Interpretation of Murder opens on a hot summer night in 1909 as Sigmund Freud arrives in New York. Among those waiting to greet him is Dr. Stratham Younger, a gifted physician who is one of Freud's most ardent American supporters. And so begins the visit that will be the great genius' first and only journey to America.

One of my favorite audio books
Revisado: 02-09-11
I was motivated to write about this book when I read the reviews of Rubenfeld's new book. Don't miss "Interpretation of Murder." The various plot lines are wonderful -- really, building the tunnel under the Hudson? psychosexual murder? Freud's first visit to the United States in a murder mystery? It doesn't get better than this....plus a great narrator, and some splendid characters to love and to hate.

Historia
Richard Novak is a modern-day Everyman, a middle-aged divorce trading stocks out of his home. He has done such a good job getting his life under control that he needs no one, except his trainer, nutritionist, and housekeeper. He is functionally dead and doesn't even notice until two incidents (an attack of intense pain that lands him in the emergency room and the discovery of an expanding sinkhole outside his house) conspire to hurl him back into the world.

What did I miss?
Revisado: 10-12-08
I had every reason to look forward to TBWSYL, and I really worked hard to like it. In fact, I listened TWICE to the first hour in the mistaken belief that I just wasn't paying enough attention. But by hour four, I took myself off the hook: reading time is too precious to waste on this silly and not at all funny or provocative or even interesting tale of a wandering mid-life California failure.
