STOP. You should not have touched this flyer with your bare hands. NO, don't put it down. It's too late. They're watching you. My name is David Wong. My best friend is John. Those names are fake. You might want to change yours. You may not want to know about the things you'll read on these pages, about the sauce, about Korrok, about the invasion, and the future. But it's too late. You touched the book. You're in the game. You're under the eye. The only defense is knowledge. You need to read this book, to the end. Even the part with the bratwurst. Why?

Apathetic, Defeatist, Dick Jokes
Revisado: 02-24-25
I know this originated as a short story on the internet and it shows. yet very much Fields like I'm reading a long creepypasta. The characters have moments of sincerity but for the most part they are one note caricatures.
The main character is likable only to 15-year-old boys or edgy millennials, I say this as a millennial.
The character is not driven. he is either going through the motions saving the world and himself simply because that seems to be what the story needs him to do. the rare moments where he had something to fight for. he and the other characters are very quick put it down and mope about how terrible everything is.
The comedic shots at rural America clearly come from someone that knows just enough to make the jokes but not enough to make them land.
And this is just a nitpick but it was obviously written by someone that has no experience with firearms.

Historia
Everyone knows dragons have been extinct for over 1,000 years. Everyone is wrong. At least one dragon remains, and military scientists from the Cofah Empire are experimenting with its blood, using the magical substance to power deadly new weapons that could be used to bring the world to its knees. That's a concern for Zirkander, Cas, and the rest of the Iskandians, but all Tolemek wants is to find his missing sister.

Fantastic Narrator
Revisado: 01-09-24
The story was fun and sweet, just how I like my semi-romantic fantasy novels. The narrator is fantastic I love her voices especially Jacksy. My only issue is the description of Cass's rifle. One second it's got a bolt action and the next it's got a lever, which is two very different style of firearms.

Great 2nd Book!
Revisado: 08-31-23
Thoroughly enjoyed this novel. the world is such a rich and intriguing place, I wanna know about the Reavers and the crusades!
I loved the mystery behind the villains of the story, it kept you thinking and provided tons of fun backstabbing.
Ian's growth was a fun ride to go on and I loved his partnership with the VowKnight. Who is probably the most badass character in the story.
However Marcel and Father Lucas were the best buddy cop duo in the book.
I have not enjoyed a fantasy world as much as this one in a long long time.

Historia
The Celestial Church has all but eliminated the old pagan ways, ruling the people with an iron hand. Demonic gheists terrorize the land, hunted by the warriors of the Inquisition, yet it's the battling factions within the Church and age-old hatreds between north and south that tear the land apart. Malcolm Blakley, hero of the Reaver War, seeks to end the conflict between men, yet it will fall to his son, Ian, and the huntress Gwen Adair to stop the killing before it tears the land apart.

Fantastic Fantasy
Revisado: 08-19-23
Loved the mythology and world. Could see the influences of England, Scotland, and France as well as the Catholic Church but it was never off putting.
Characters really became their own and all got to shine at some point.
I liked that people actually died in the war, a great story.
My only complaint is the author uses the phrase "he said" far too often and the way the speaker pronounces it gets grating.

Most Fun Alien Invasion in Years
Revisado: 04-29-23
The combat turned up a notch in this one.
Both in how much combat and in the descriptions, Blaine did a fantastic job of making this invasion feel world spanning and personal.
Lots of good character development, if you had told me the child character was gonna be in my 3 favs I woulda called you a liar.

Has a Ton Clancy + BattleTech vibe to it.
I enjoyed the ensemble of characters each was given a decent story arc and a good introduction.
I'm very interested to see where this story goes, I feel assured that humanity will win out the fight and I'm excited to see humanity take to the stars in this series.

Historia
This historical romance, perhaps the greatest cloak-and-sword story ever, relates the adventures of four fictional swashbuckling heroes who served the French kings Louis XIII and Louis XIV. When the dashing young D'Artagnon arrives in Paris from Gascony, he becomes embroiled in three duels with the Three Musketeers: Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. But when he proves himself by fighting not against, but with, the Three Musketeers, they form a quick and lasting friendship.

Amazing Story. Far darker than Modern takes.
Revisado: 01-29-23
I loved this story, it was a bit hard to get into for the first 5 or so chapters. But it picked up quickly and kept my attention.
I've seen modern movies and read YA versions of the tale but they all fall short of this original.
The scope of the story and how dark it gets is lost in the new version.
I must also say I loved the views of Athos in particular. A man should be honorable, a man should be a gentleman, a man should be a man.
Many good quotes and lessons.

Each primarch is an exemplary being, derived from the Emperor’s own genetic stock to embody a facet of His personality. Their powers are unfathomable, but only one of them is the First. Lion El’Jonson is the paragon of what it is to be a primarch. His Legion, pre-eminent for most of their long history, typify the virtues of temperance, pride and martial excellency that the Lion embodies. They are the Emperor’s last line and final sanction. They are His Dark Angels.

This is my favorite 40K book so far.
The Imperial Guard really shine in this one.
But their not the only players, everyone is in this one.
Space Marines, Inquisition, Gre Knights, Chaos, Demons, alien beast.
What a great ride.
