Historia
My name is Vincent Lasco. I’ve searched a long time to find a new place to settle down. Because of what I am, I need to pull up stakes and start over every 20 years or so - before people realize that I don’t age anymore. Prosper Woods has everything a man like me could ever want. Though there aren’t many humans, it doesn’t really matter. I’m so old, I don’t need to eat very often, and there’s no reason to expose myself to the locals whom I hope to call friends some day.

Narration did not flow.
Revisado: 12-02-22
As a beginning, this was ok. The story was a little bland, no real plot, but it was a prequel, so hopefully the series establishes a plot. However, the biggest issue is the narrator. while I understand he was trying to create different styles to differentiate between characters, his portrayal of Vincent was distracting. The narrator created unnecessary pauses between words and some times IN words. for example the narrator said book case instead of bookcase. He put way too much emphasis on pronunciation of every letter in the word that it was distracting and pulled me out of being immersed in the story. Then the 'letters to the editor '. I get that they are part of the book, but having them read at chapter transitions, right in the middle of the action is so off-putting. it causes unnecessary distraction. I doubt I'll get the series, partly because of the narrator and partly because I doubt the writing style improves.

Historia
Despite growing up in a family of villains, I’d rather curl up and read than commit crimes. When I get coerced by my brother into helping him rob a bank, I run into August, my childhood crush, also known as Chrono, the city’s greatest superhero. He’s sexy, sweet, and suddenly, he’s asking me to Thanksgiving with his parents.

Good story, poor narrator
Revisado: 09-10-22
I enjoy stories by this author and have listened to a few narrated by different people. This narrator is the worst. He pauses in the middle of sentences, he smacks his lips, his breaths are audible and the voices for the 2 main characters are sometimes indistinguishable. Time and again these tics disrupt the flow of the story. It interferes with the immersion and enjoyment of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the story itself and if it weren't for the narrator, I'd probably listen to it multiple times.

Historia
To say former firefighter Colin Zhang is struggling to accept his new life would be a vast understatement. He's bound to a vampire he didn't choose, living in a house filled with creatures better left to the imagination—there's a lot to resent. As much as he tries, he doesn't resent Evan—far from it. But he needs to know that what he feels is real and that requires breaking their bond. No matter the cost.

Too shallow-not like the prequel series
Revisado: 08-09-22
In the series that preceded this one, the story flowed better. I get that expanding the series and focusing on a different set of characters changes things, but this series just heaps more and more on top hoping to remain engaging. Then it ends in a cliffhanger. Blech! There is not enough development to elicit emotional responses to the events of the story. I got lost a few times and had to go back to remember who some random character was. It lost the investigative feel that was a cornerstone of the first books. The story directly preceding this one was a little better, there was a villain to uncover and people to save. This story was a re-hash of the last storyline and then it was all soap opera drama. It's like the author forgot they were supposed to be writing a mystery. And then the way they 'fixed' the big problem was utter crap.
Then there is the narrator. He seems to and try to purr when he talks, or he is trying to talk in a sultry manner. It was very off-putting during much of the book. His British accent was horrible and so obviously fake that it took me right out of the story. I swear, Dick VanDyke was better... It was apparent that he had not listened to the previous narrator from the first series, there was no attempt to duplicate or emulate their previous characterizations. The narrator also changed how the characters 'talked' during the story.
The only reason I will get the next (and I hope last) book in this series is because I hate when stories I read do not get finished.
