Historia
A vivid and affectionate portrait of the residents of an English country town in the mid-19th century, Cranford describes a community dominated by its independent and refined women, relating the adventures of Miss Matty and Miss Deborah, two middle-aged spinster sisters striving to live with dignity in reduced circumstances. Through a series of satirical vignettes, Gaskell sympathetically portrays changing small town customs and values in mid-Victorian England....

A quaint story, read in an easy-listening British style. Cranford is a mood of endearing characters and lighthearted escapades.

Historia
First published in 1952, Witness came on the heals of America's trial of the century, in which Whittaker Chambers accused Alger Hiss, a full-standing member of the political establishment, of spying for the Soviet Union. In this penetrating philosophical memoir, Chambers recounts the famous case as well as his own experiences as a Communist agent in the United States, his later renunciation of communism, and his conversion to Christianity.

back at the Christie not the best narrator
Revisado: 12-14-20
This is a review for:
Agatha Christie: An Autobiography Narrated by Agatha Christie (1 hr and 19 mins, Released 07-13-12)
Though it is nice to hear Agatha Christie's voice, the distracting noises in the background, clicking and paper shuffling, made it difficult for me to enjoy. I did not finish listening. I may try to find a different narrator, or a version that has been cleaned up.

Historia
Melanie is a very special girl. Dr. Caldwell calls her "our little genius". Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she'll do when she grows up.

Historia
Wodehouse introduces us once again to the "wonder butler" Jeeves, who, as usual is able to solve any and all of Bertie Wooster's endless problems with ease and finesse. And he also introduces us to a character not dissimilar to Bertie . . . by name of Reggie. Such fun to follow Jeeves in the hijinks!

Performance was not my cup of tea
Revisado: 09-10-19
David Thorne gave an engaging expressive performance, yet I tired of the "rolling R's". It could be spot on for someone else, though.

Confusing Voices
Revisado: 07-21-19
Though the vocal actors were each very good, the narrator/father’s voice alternated randomly, sometimes within the same sentence, between a man and a woman which led to confusion as to who was speaking. This felt somewhat disjointed and reduced the flow of the story. I would have wished for a more relaxing experience; rather, at times it gave me a twinges of a headache.
