Historia
From the end of World War II until 1980, virtually no American soldiers were killed in action while serving in the Greater Middle East. Since 1990, virtually no American soldiers have been killed in action anywhere else. What caused this shift? Andrew J. Bacevich, one of the country's most respected voices on foreign affairs, offers an incisive critical history of this ongoing military enterprise - now more than 30 years old and with no end in sight.

The sample is misleading
Revisado: 07-01-16
What aspect of Rob Shapiro and Andrew J. Bacevich ’s performance would you have changed?
I wanted to listen to Andrew J. Bacevich's book after hearing him speak on YouTube. I enjoyed his train of thought and exposition - he thinks and presents like a military historian, and even speaks like others I have known who shared his profession and held a similar military rank. Brisk, precise, concrete, clear, thoughtful and solidly backed by facts - a joy to inquiring minds that value facts and actual accounts over ideas and grand plans. Now, the audio sample thrilled me - how, I marveled, have they found someone that could read a book in the same style of speech, with the same kind of energy as the author! Brilliant!
Unfortunately, they didn't. The sample is misleading - it's from the short introduction, spoken indeed by the actual author, Andrew J. Bacevich. The rest of the book is read by another voice, a very different sounding one, that left me un-thrilled and disappointed. Surely, men, you can do better then that! There must be a retired colonel in your unit that could read aloud a book about military history as if it's exciting!
This diminished my enjoyment, sir!

Historia
Nearly all of us have an ideal of what a "dream" relationship would be, but very few of us are living in one. Three decades of research and clinical practice have led Harville Hendrix to pinpoint four essential "non-negotiable" keys to creating and sustaining a healthy, loving relationship. In this workshop, he will help couples: understand what prevents them from achieving the type of relationship they aspire to; discover how to cultivate those habits that can create the conditions that permit such a relationship to blossom; and practice the Imago Dialogue, a three-step process that offers us a highly effective tool to transform our dream about our relationship into reality.

A great performer, too!

A great performer, too!
Revisado: 06-07-15
Hendrix was recommended to me because of his insights - and listening to this recording of his lecture I discovered that he is also a great speaker. Performer, even! I have never laughed so much at descriptions of my own shortcomings. He cracks me up with harsh truths as if they were stand-up comedy. Finally, I am no stranger to relationship theories, but found a certain depth about Hendrix that made me think, again and again, fresh thoughts. I'm looking forward to listening to more of his stuff. Wish I read this 30 or 40 years ago!
