Historia
Tower of Basel is the first investigative history of the world's most secretive global financial institution. Based on extensive archival research in Switzerland, Britain, and the United States, and in-depth interviews with key decision-makers—including Paul Volcker, the former chairman of the US Federal Reserve; Sir Mervyn King, governor of the Bank of England; and former senior Bank for International Settlements managers and officials—Tower of Basel tells the inside story of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS): the central bankers' own bank.

The book was enlightening regarding the Bank of International Settlements, which I never heard of. It’s Nazi relationship and early banker and business connections that influenced the 2nd World War. How it managed to survive despite being unnecessary and how it still influences world money services and to be the Central bank of all national central banks such as the Fed.

Historia
Mrs. Post, the President and First Lady are here to see you. . . . So begins another average evening for Marjorie Merriweather Post. Presidents have come and gone, but she has hosted them all. Growing up in the modest farmlands of Battle Creek, Michigan, Marjorie was inspired by a few simple rules: always think for yourself, never take success for granted, and work hard—even when deemed American royalty, even while covered in imperial diamonds.

Awesome
Revisado: 11-11-23
Historical and educational. Mrs Post never gave up and changed the world leaving all more than what she was given as the heir to Post the General Foods. She supported both WW1 and WW2. She started soup kitchens in NYC during the Great Depression and she left one of her homes to be a museum i Washington DC. Her Maralago estate was to e a second White House.
So much more to be said, but you need to read this book to learn about this fascinating person. In fact this should be a must read.

Historia
For over three decades, Ray Kurzweil has been one of the most respected and provocative advocates of the role of technology in our future. In his classic The Age of Spiritual Machines, he argued that computers would soon rival the full range of human intelligence at its best. Now he examines the next step in this inexorable evolutionary process: The union of human and machine, in which the knowledge and skills embedded in our brains will be combined with the vastly greater capacity, speed, and knowledge-sharing ability of our creations.

Interesting but disjointed
Revisado: 10-23-23
The topics that he touches on are interesting but the entire concept is not fully understandable and the book seems disjointed from actuality.

Almost there

Should have started the computer age way before Ada but at the beginning of the number system after the Roman Numerals and then with Binary.
People and names are overly used and confuses the idea.
