Historia
The quest for social justice is a powerful crusade of our time, with an appeal to many different people, for many different reasons. But those who use the same words do not always present the same meanings. Clarifying those meanings is the first step toward finding out what we agree on and disagree on. From there, it is largely a question of what the facts are. Social Justice Fallacies reveals how many things that are thought to be true simply cannot stand up to documented facts, which are often the opposite of what is widely believed.

Consequences of extreme ideology
Revisado: 09-05-24
I admired how the author used real world examples of historical change in american culture and government policies and how those changes affected us. The author however does not offer better solutions to real world cultural problems, only points out the flaws and consequences of extreme progressive talking points. As a free thinker and independent voter, I believe all views should be put to the marketplace of ideas, and followed up by direct evidence and counter arguments.. This book makes a great attempt at that but leaves the reader questioning the "where do we go from here" ending.

One of the foremost achievements in Western literature, Homer's Iliad tells the story of the darkest episode in the Trojan War. At its center is Achilles, the greatest warrior-champion of the Greeks, and his refusal to fight after being humiliated by his leader, Agamemnon.

The longest poem.

The graphic detail of prose puts the reader directly into the battle in a way even watching a movie could not. Very long and drawn out telling but as such was the times for oral tradition/stories. Would highly recommend and set reading cadence to 1.2-1.5 for dramatic effect.

George Orwell's classic satire of the Russian Revolution is an intimate part of our contemporary culture, quoted so often that we tend to forget who wrote the original words! This must-read is also a must-listen!

Prophetic
Revisado: 08-27-24
This story continues to take place throughout the world. The animals and the descriptive style of language changes but the plot remains and repeats. Will people ever evolve their thinking higher than the beasts we let rule over us?

Historia
Remarkably relevant, beautifully written, and filled with wit and wisdom, these three essays by Bertrand Russell allow the listener to test the concepts of the good life, morality, the existence of God, Christianity, and human nature. "What I Believe" was used prominently in the 1940 New York court proceedings in which Russell was judicially declared "unfit" to teach philosophy at City College of New York. "Why I Am Not a Christian" concludes that churches throughout history have retarded progress and states that we should instead "look to our own efforts here below to make this world a fit place to live in." Finally, "A Free Man's Worship", perhaps the most famous single essay written by Russell, considers whether humans operate from free will.

Enjoyed the writing very much. The narration seemed to flow a bit too drawn out to keep up with the subject matter at times. Overall a very good read.

Very informative. Documentation and evidence based analysis of the founding of our country. Written very clearly by a lawyer intent on winning his case/argument. Thankful for the intelligent articulation and all the great work done by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

Historia
How can we make intelligent decisions about our increasingly technology-driven lives if we don’t understand the difference between the myths of pseudoscience and the testable hypotheses of science? Pulitzer Prize-winning author and distinguished astronomer Carl Sagan argues that scientific thinking is critical not only to the pursuit of truth but to the very well-being of our democratic institutions.

Very much appreciated the narration tempo and inflection. The importance of science and rationality in today's world is now more important than ever as technology increases faster than human cultural ethics evolution.

A provocative and positive response to Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Richard Dawkins, and other New Atheists, Good Without God makes a bold claim for what nonbelievers do share and believe. Epstein's Good Without God provides a constructive, challenging response to these manifestos by getting to the heart of Humanism and its positive belief in tolerance, community, morality, and good without having to rely on the guidance of a higher being.

Indepth understanding of humanism

Although laced with many repetative arguments relating to liberal politics, this book has been the best I've found for the explanation of secular humanism and how to implement its values into your life. Very grateful to the author.
