Very cheesy and basic
Revisado: 12-16-23
This content could be shared with 25% of the material. I think I've watch a 15 minute YouTube video with as much actionable content. It's written in story format and feels patronizing, as it is basic and corny. The audiobook makes it so much worse, as it's read by someone who sounds like the A Christmas Story narrator. So overrated.

Historia
Cameron Hanes discovered his true passion for bowhunting when he was twenty. Inspired by the physical challenges of stalking elk in the Oregon wilderness—traversing mountainous terrain, braving erratic weather, and evading his quarry’s even more dangerous predators—he began an ever-evolving journey of self-improvement. To become the best bowhunter of wild elk, to the caliber he believed he could be, Cam realized he would need more than archery skills.

Very boring telling of an amazing story
Revisado: 12-27-22
Cameron Hanes is a beast. No denying it. I find a little bit ironic that he spends a lot of time talking about how he is such a passionate writer and even has a column now, but wrote this book so poorly. There is a lot of grammatical sloppiness here. Not just technical correctness, but it doesn’t flow well and could have been far better. He also narrated it himself, which did not work out. He’s a terrible narrator. Do not recommend.

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Eric was 150 pounds overweight, depressed, and sick. After a lifetime of failed diet attempts and the onset of type 2 diabetes due to his weight, Eric went to a new doctor, who surprisingly prescribed a shelter dog. And that's when Eric met Peety: an overweight, middle-aged, and forgotten dog who, like Eric, had seen better days. The two adopted each other and began an incredible journey together, forming a bond of unconditional love that forever changed their lives.

Just about veganism and religious awakening
Revisado: 12-26-22
The story here is good, but it gets pretty weird, pretty fast. It’s also written with a junior feel to it. Like it’s a middle school book. Almost right away the author has some sort of awakening and thinks he’s talking to God, which is what causes him to go lose weight. It’s pretty uncomfortable to listen to. It sounds actually crazy. Then he goes to a doctor and gets on a vegan diet right away. From there, the rest is the author patting himself on the back, and basically bragging about his life. Fair-play to him but I don’t need to read a book about it if it’s not going to contain some interesting storytelling, which it does not. What really kept it off is that the author narrates his own book. Those are almost always bad, and this one is not an exception.

Historia
Shocking and controversial when it was first published in 1939, Steinbeck's Pulitzer prize-winning epic The Grapes of Wrath remains his undisputed masterpiece. Set against the background of Dust Bowl Oklahoma and Californian migrant life, it tells of Tom Joad and his family, who, like thousands of others, are forced to travel west in search of the promised land. Their story is one of false hopes, thwarted desires, and broken dreams, yet out of their suffering Steinbeck created a drama that is intensely human, yet majestic in its scale and moral vision.

Incredible
Revisado: 05-25-17
Anyone who whines about white privilege should take a listen or a read. The narration is masterful and the book is on the same level. The families at the top of the list of the most wealthy in the world today are primarily responsible for the spoils that are morbidly but beautifully detailed in this book. Between them (the families) and the federal reserve their wealth was built on the suffering of millions.
The pilgrimage and migration described in this book sends our characters west. Similar migrations occurred from Appalachia to the east. Hillbilly elegy covers this in a nonfiction format.
Almost all white and dirt poor. Forced out by the rich few. The hate and the evil callousness that spawned from their greed cared nothing for color.
