Historia
Queenie the cat has a big problem. And for once, it's not the slobbery, overly-excited creature who also lives at Blackberry Hill Inn. Sweet Lady Emsworth, the neighbor's prize cow, has disappeared, meaning no morning cream for Queenie. And when Queenie's not happy, no one is happy.... Things aren't looking great for Arthur the dog, either. His beloved humans, twins Harmony and Bro, are distressed about the strange activity in their town. Mysterious hi-tech people are suddenly very interested in nearby Catastrophe Falls....

Annoying narration
Revisado: 07-02-24
Narrative voice for Queenie is so annoying I couldn't get past the first few chapters.
I enjoy Quinn's writing and I think the story will be good. I only hope when I read the print version I won't "hear" this Queenie's voice.

Historia
Actor Kelsey Grammer, best known for his roles in the TV sitcoms Cheers and Frasier, delivers Bitter Brew, a compelling mystery featuring Detective Bill Walsh, an upstate cop in the quiet, rural town of Beatriceville, 200 miles north of New York City, who suspects foul play in the death of millionaire city transplant Jonathan Kimball, even though the evidence points to suicide, not murder.

Kelley Grammer can sure turn a phrase
Revisado: 06-23-24
The story is perfectly read by the author. There are lines that are cleverly descriptive. The story has a kind of noir attitude reminiscent of Raymond Chandler.
Who knew Kelsey Grammer is also a terrific novelist?
I hope there will be more.

Didn't need the explicit sex
Revisado: 05-12-23
The story was an easy-going fluff. I personally don't find a need for explicit sex passages to make a story interesting or better. It detracts and reduces the book from a story that might be worth reading to just titillation for teen readers.
It takes more talent for a writer to convey passion without resorting to erotic passages. After the first episode about 2/3 the way in and it was like a dam burst. After that, it was one sex scene after the other.
Overkill, in my opinion.

To escape from a life of petticoats and politeness, Hilary answers a curious advertisement for a pirate crew and suddenly finds herself swept up in a seafaring adventure that may or may not involve a map without an X, a magical treasure that likely doesn't exist, a rogue governess who insists on propriety, a crew of misfit scallywags, and the most treacherous - and unexpected - villain on the High Seas. Will Hilary find the treasure in time? Will she become a true pirate after all? And what will become of the gargoyle?

Historia
The holidays have arrived, and Hannah and her good pal, Lisa, have agreed to provide all the goodies for the town's annual production of A Christmas Carol. But before anyone can say "bah, humbug!" a Santa-size sackful of trouble ensues. Like the fact that Lisa's husband will be playing Mr. Claus to his ex-girlfriend Phyllis Bates' Mrs. Claus. Or that before the curtains even go up, Phyllis is found dead in the snow - wearing a costume that the real Mrs. Claus would put on the naughty list.

Couldn't go the distance with narration
Revisado: 12-09-22
I've read print versions of many of the Hannah Swenson books and enjoyed them. However, the character voices performed by this narrator were just too painful to finish the book.

Inspiring!
Revisado: 04-13-20
Open your heart and mind to the possibility that angels are real.
When Kieth asks if you can recall certain times in your life things have happened that, at the time, you wondered "what just happened?", then you can feel certain that the only explanation is an angel intervened.
You know you have had moments. Only hubris could cloud a person from seeing angel support as their own doing.
Kieth has led an amazing life and his acknowledgment of angels early on in that life was a gift inadvertently to all who read this book.

Historia
Sophronia's first year at Mademoiselle Geraldine's Finishing Academy for Young Ladies of Quality has certainly been rousing! For one thing, finishing school is training her to be a spy. Furthermore, Sophronia got mixed up in an intrigue over a stolen device and had a cheese pie thrown at her in a most horrid display of poor manners. Now, as she sneaks around the dirigible school, eavesdropping on the teachers' quarters, she learns that there may be more to a school trip to London than is apparent at first.

Dog loving Groucho Marx, Esquire
Revisado: 10-24-16
David Rosenfelt's witty and engaging writing paired with perfectly delivered narration by Grover Gardner make for an entertaining reading/listening experience.
The characters and plot line are well developed and kept me engaged in the story throughout.
I began the series with Who Let The Dog Out. A good stand alone read but there are several references letting me know there was prior history so I started at the beginning. So much falls beautifully into place.
So far with three of the books read I would say the quality is consistently crafted.
If you love animals, charitable champions to the underdogs, and a witty sense of humor, you will enjoy this series.

Robert E. Lee, one of the most famous figures in American history, vanished after his dramatic surrender at Appomattox. In fact, he lived only another five years, during which time he did more than any other American to heal the wounds between North and South during the tempestuous postwar period.

Recording quality detracts at times
Revisado: 07-01-16
All good except the extra high treble of the recording was painful on the ears.
The content is very interesting and the narration itself is good. After making adjustments on my listening device equalizer I was able to finish the whole book but still had to occasionally adjust the volume. Pity.
I would recommend the book but maybe not in this recorded version.

Historia
After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Douglas Adams meets Forrest Gump and Big Labowski
Revisado: 12-11-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Would recommend highly if you are a fan of well written farce. Pithy humor and well written dialogue are reminiscent of Douglas Adams and P.G. Wodehouse.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Besides Alan, I think Beauty is my favorite. A self reliant, smart, rough talking dame that knows how to play a part of piety well when called upon.
Any additional comments?
An all around fun read. Noticed that it is now a movie available on Amazon Prime but wanted to read the book first. Now I can't wait to pop some corn and watch this story unfold on the big screen. Have to wait until the Husband has read the book, too. Don't want to spoil it for him.
