War story

This is not an EMP survival story. It’s a war story. I listened to the whole thing so I guess I liked something about it but it’s not really what I would normally enjoy. Lots of guns, blood, torture, machismo, and good hearted women who are meaner than junk yard dogs. Someone should tell the author good hearted women don’t cut people’s heads off. The characters didn’t make a lot of sense to me. Maybe because character was secondary to the constant violence. The annoying dog everybody loved was sketched out better than any of the humans. A little too “political” for me. Or maybe not? In today’s political climate I’m not sure this crazy premise is so improbable. But it certainly wasn’t boring.

Stop with that music!

I liked this series. Written well, good characters. The narration was great. But at the beginning of every short chapter there was LOUD, annoying violin music playing the same few notes. The fact that I made it through the whole series is a testament to the books. Because I thought I’d slit my wrists if I heard that music again!
