Had a hard time getting into the story. Characters not very likable. Not one his best. If this was first book someone reads, definitely give author another chance.

This is not the page turner one reads for entertainment but rather a look into our history. It helps explain why America is viewed by the world as it is today. For those who despise revisionist history, listen to this book. It's amazing what we did to other countries "in their best interest."

Best book I've read for some time
Revisado: 01-26-16
I've always like Mitch Albom's books. This was an amazing book to me. The performance was outstanding, the story engaging, thought-provoking, and entirely entertaining. I will hope to see this made in to a movie. I would recommend this book to anyone. I can't wait for the next novel.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Outstanding!!!!!!!
Revisado: 11-12-15
I cannot say enough good things about the book, the performance and the overall entertainment. I'm reluctant to see the movie for fear of disappointment given the high bar set by the book. I am an avid listener/reader and this by far was the best read this in years. Do not be fooled by the title. It is not a paperback dime store Sci fi story. I'd recommend this to anyone.

Long but entertaining
Revisado: 11-05-15
To start, I did enjoy this book and I didn't joy the presentation. It was a very long book. At first, I got rather muddled down as it took quite a bit of time to develop the characters. The pace was quite slow at the beginning and almost near stroke levels fasts at the end. There were times that it was difficult to understand when the narrator changed his voice for the different characters. I actually had started this book, got about an hour or two into it, and then had to restart it as I was lost as to who we were talking about and what character was being developed. Personally, I think this would make a great movie as the characters are certainly unique and much of what took description to let me know who and what they were, would easily be done on the screen. I believe it will be quite irritating.
Overall, I didn't joy the book but I do believe parts of it were rather drawn out and sometimes it was difficult to piece the characters and puzzle together. Overall though, I would recommend this.

Historia
The Jungle is the story of Jurgis Rudkus, a Slavic immigrant who marries frail Ona Lukoszaite and seeks security and happiness as a workman in the Chicago stockyards. Once there, he is abused by foremen, his meager savings are filched by real estate sharks, and at every turn he is plagued by the misfortunes arising from poverty, poor working conditions, and disease. Finally, in accordance with Sinclair’s own creed, Rudkus turns to socialism as a way out.

A classic with propaganda
Revisado: 10-14-15
Clearly, one can't be critical of a classic which was extremely well-written, the performance was outstanding, however the propaganda at the end of the book so they took away from the whores that the working class had to live through the turn-of-the-century. The greatest value to those who have never read it is to show just how cruel people can be for want of money and power.
Well I believe the "virtues" of socialism and the amount of work one would have to do to survive in a totally socialist government that were explained it at the last chapter of the book are nothing short of ridiculous, nonetheless, the book does demonstrate the will and breaking of one man Who only wanted to have a better life for his family.

Very quirky.
Revisado: 09-25-15
This book was a little bit out of the normal genre that I read. It was a very interesting perspective and a different way to look at vampires and zombies. If I were reading the book, this would be a "light" read. It was very entertaining and I would certainly recommend this to others.
