Historia
At the close of the last millennium, Helen Fielding debuted the irrepressible (and blockbuster-bestselling) Bridget Jones. Now, Fielding gives us a sensational new heroine for a new era. Move over 007, a stunning, sexy, and decidedly female, new player has entered the world of international espionage. Her name is Olivia Joules and she's ready to take America by storm with charm, style, and her infamous Overactive Imagination.

Hilarious

This book had me cracking up – which was a feat giving how sick I was when I was listening to it. The characters and situations were so outrageous that it kept me hooked. Classic Helen Fielding.

Historia
The Buchmans on Mad About You taught us a lot about love, but mostly they taught us how to laugh. Listen to the couple's male half, Paul Reiser, talk about Couplehood and Babyhood in these two hysterically funny and poignant audiobooks.

Just not that funny
Revisado: 03-13-06
I'm not sure why this is entitled Couplehood as there is very little about couples in it. He will start a chapter with a brief scenario of a couple then go off on a tangent of mediocre comedy. Not what I was expecting at all.

Historia
This novel by Carl Hiaasen, author of Tourist Season and Native Tongue, begins as most thrillers do, with a killing. But this is no everyday, hum-drum, garden variety killing. Our hero, Nick Stranahan, a 42-year-old private investigator who has killed five men and been married five times, skewers his attacker's aorta with the razor-sharp bill of a stuffed marlin.

Not his best
Revisado: 03-13-06
I've only listened to two of his books, but I can't say that I was a huge fan of this one. The plot was good enough, but some of the scenes were painful to listen to – like any involving ditzy women that threw herself at any of the male characters. I like the outrageous scenarios, but the voice of the narrator was grating whenever he had to do a female character – they all sounded the same; airy and unintelligent. Try Skinny Dip instead.

Historia
Nanzeen's inauspicious birth in a Bangladeshi village imbues in her a sense of fatalism that she carries across continents. Married off to a man old enough to be her father, Nanzeen moves to London and cares for her family. But gradually she begins to question whether fate controls her or whether she has a hand in her own destiny. She discovers both the complexity that comes with free choice and the depth of her attachment to her husband, her daughters and her new world.

Pass on this one
Revisado: 03-13-06
I’ve listened to a number of audible books and just could not get into this one. The plot held little interest to me and the voice of the narrator was somewhat grating. The story never seemed to pick up and suck you in. It just kept going and going. I would not recommend this one.

Historia
Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

I was sucked into this book from the very start. The writer’s style and language keep you captivated throughout the book. The characters are vivid and defined and the narrator was awesome. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to checking out other Neil Gaiman books.
